Senior Technical Project Manager – Atlanta

The Senior Technical Project Manager role is responsible for the management of software, infrastructure, and occasionally business initiatives.  The PM could be assigned to one large project or several unrelated, concurrent projects.   The projects are typically technical in nature, and while the role is not a technical assignment, the chosen PM must have prior technical experience given the PM is expected to influence design decisions.

The PM should be adept at overcoming technical, capacity, and human obstacles and should be a relationship builder.  This role will lead other technical personnel including developers, architects, technical analysts, and business analysts.   The PM should be a confident leader who is comfortable accepting accountability for the ultimate outcome of the project/program.

This individual will be responsible for project managing the implementation of new software releases of the iServ billing system Front End, acquisition/buildout of hardware and special projects.  This individual will be responsible for creating the project plan and communicating/coordinating with all the appropriate parties, as well as insuring that the project is tracked and completed on time and within defined constraints.  This individual will also be accountable for coordination of project Infrastructure requirements, determining impact assessments and overseeing a project from planning to implementation. Additional responsibilities will include reporting support and training using the Discoverer and EDW products. Work with vendor production technical and support teams to manage software and hardware implementation and operation.

The ideal candidate will be a former technical professional.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establish the scope and goals of the project.

Establish a pragmatic, detailed plan to ensure the project is executed and meets the goals of the sponsor.  Identify and articulate the risks of the project.

Drive project issues through to resolution using the methodology established for the department.

Ensure the finished project is supportable through frequent life-cycle communications with the operational team that will ultimately run the systems and processes being implemented.

Build a structured approach to successfully complete the project in the allotted time.

Develop written project plans that are understandable and match the capacity and ability of the organization.  Effectively communicate those plans with all project team members and leadership constituents.

Determine the personnel, capital resources, equipment, and tools needed to complete the project (i.e. know how to estimate). Proactively manage resource and scheduling issues.

Manage change control procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

PMP Certification is required, no exceptions.   Willingness to utilize the incumbent formal methodology.

BA/BS Required

4 years of project management experience

Must possess a technical background. Experience with at least one of the following: system administration, database administration, network administration, or as a developer is required.

Have worked on several projects for the full life cycle

Ability to identify and understand complex problems/issues and develop solutions.

Experience with group facilitation

Ability to manage large-scale projects

Thorough knowledge of the Systems Implementation Life Cycle
