LinkedIn and the Job Search

LinkedIn Helps You Find a Job

Of all of the social media sites out there, LinkedIn is the best for presenting yourself to possible employers.  Think of LinkedIn as an online resume, complete with recommendations.  I know, I know…people can lie on their LinkedIn profiles and all of the recommendations are full of fluff.  But, isn’t that true in real life as well?  Can’t I lie on my resume and only offer contact information for people I know will review my work performance in a positive light?

Here is what you need to do so that your LinkedIn profile is ready for prime time:

  1. Make sure you have a good quality headshot.
  2. Fill out as much school and employment history as you can.
  3. Contact people through LinkedIn that will give you a good recommendation.
  4. Keep your profile as up to date as possible.

Following those steps will help keep your LinkedIn profile looking sharp.
