Last month our Nashville team used their Giving Back day to work at The Next Door. We were recommended to this group from the Salvation Army (who we have worked with before). Our efforts during this experience were used working in the kitchen. We went in the late afternoon to prepare dinner for the women in the program. Since we cooked, they were able to take the extra time to look for a job.

With the help of a counselor, the women make a job seeking plan. The plan includes everything from searching, to the application and follow up process. By cooking dinner for them, the women get a few extra hours in the evening to catch up on their job search.

Helen Netwon was one of our Nashville office participants. “The women are so very appreciative, and almost unwilling to let us help them. Sitting down with them to hear their stores and struggles opens our eyes to who they are and what they are dealing with.”
