Certifications in Demand for 2013

Careers in IT are always in demand, but what sets other IT’s apart from the group is their certifications.  The number of certifications that are available can be overwhelming if you’re trying to figure out which one is best, so we did the leg work for you! Here are some of the most in-demand certifications for this year:

1. MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate)

 

After Microsoft released their newwest 2012 certifications, there was a huge increase in popularity.  This certification will give you all the basic information you need for everything Microsoft related in 2013.  Start with these:

  • MCSA: Windows 2012 Server
  • MCSA: SQL Server 2012
  • MCSA: Windows 8
  • MCSA: SharePoint 2013

2. MCSE: Private Cloud

“Cloud” is a big buzzword in the IT world, and Microsoft re-vamped their expert certification accordingly.  Private Cloud rivals similar certifications such as CompTIA and CCP.  The importance for IT professionals to be able to provide cloud solutions is growing quickly.

3. PMP (Project Management Professional)

This is a great foundational skill that transitions seamlessly with new technologies.  Having an understanding of planning, budgeting, time management, and reducing costs is essential for IT professionals.

4. VCP (VMware Certified Professional)

Virtualization (the creation of virtual computing platforms) is a growing industry that’s filled with tons of potential, and VMware is the leader in both vitalization software and certifications.

5. CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)

The need for security is even more important now with the growing popularity of organizations using clouds to store all their information.  There are a variety of security certifications available, but CISSP is one of the most popular and generally receives the highest average salary.
