Couch to 5K (C25K)

This is a great app for anyone who is at the beginning of their running lifestyle.  It provides a step-by-step program that helps users build their strength and stamina over the course of eight weeks.

Not ready to hit the pavement everyday, yet? Don’t worry, C25K only requires you to run 3 days a week, with plenty of alerts of when to walk, run and cool down.

Running Club

Get in touch with your inner competitor with this app that allows you to schedule live runs or race against your friends, family, or strangers across the country. Simply join a live race and wait for the start.

Also, while you’re running you can track your location with a real-time map feature and compare your times with other racers.

Nike+ Running

No matter how long or short your run is, it’s important to know precisely where you ran and the time it took you to get there.  Nike+ Running does that and provides feedback as well as a motivational cheer function.

You can also share your GPS map on Facebook with your friends so they can see where you ran.

This provides plain and simple solution for a huge issue for even the best of runners—your music is just too slow.  This app factors in your current running pace and finds a song in your library with a similar tempo.  The faster you run, the quicker the song, and if you start to walk, the music slows down.
